I’ve been a fan of Hillary Clinton’s since she was First Lady so I had high hopes when I started reading this book. She didn’t disappoint me. It’s a thorough (as only Hillary can be) analysis of the 2016 election with all the reason, discipline, passion, and thoughtfulness that would have served the USA so well, had she become President.
I loved some of the early feminist analysis, the detailed political analysis of the campaign itself, the policy wonkishness of it all, and the final chapters where she speaks about radical empathy, an ethos of caring, and America finding its soul again.
I also think it’s so helpful – if you’re a woman who wants to find her own voice – to hear from women who’ve been in the public eye for as long as Hillary Clinton. Gaining insight into just some of the ways she’s been criticised and pilloried over the years, and how she’s not just survived it but used it as fuel to keep going, do more and aim higher, is completely inspiring.
