I was recently on a live call with the members of the Feminine Power Courses and we were talking about being seen and heard. We were talking about what it takes to be willing to speak up, to express an opinion, and to be authentic with your audience.
These things matters because, as a business owner, if you’re not willing to be seen and heard – particularly if your business is wrapped around your personal brand – then it’s going to be very difficult for you to build a successful business.
We were also talking about the various ways we’ve been silenced and the ways we’re silencing ourselves. What many women said was, ‘Actually, what I’m doing is waiting for permission. I’m waiting for someone to tell me it’s ok to express my opinion.’
The problem with waiting for permission is that while we’re waiting, we’re putting our lives and our dreams on hold. We’re putting limits on our happiness and on our success. We’re ‘upper limiting’ ourselves.
As I reflected on this and on how many women could benefit from the permission to just be, or to be successful, to be wealthy, to have opinions, I decided to incorporate my ‘Giving Yourself Permission’ process into the survey I’ve recently created.
The background to the survey is this; I’m currently digging deep into the question of where as women we’re comfortable and uncomfortable in speaking up. To do that I need to hear your wisdom and your experiences.
Everyone that completes the survey will receive my ‘Giving Yourself Permission’ process as a thank you. Hopefully together we can start to raise women’s voices and visibility, and over time, we can change the world.
P.S. Thank you to the members of the Change the Game Tribe who’ve already completed the survey. I appreciate you more than you know.
P.P.S. If you’re wondering where this week’s episode of the Change the Game podcast is, we’re currently on hiatus. You can catch up with all the episodes from last season right here and we’ll be back in mid August with the next season!
