Today we’re talking about marketing and sales and the fear that so many wellbeing practitioners and creatives have about selling themselves, about selling out, about entering into a commercial environment at all!
I know this concern intimately. I had no knowledge of marketing when I first started my business and I avoided it like the plague. I took the ‘spiritual girl with her head in the clouds’ route for a while, just hoping that my good vibes would be enough and I wouldn’t actually have to…. you know…. tell people about my services and products and how fabulous they are.
Truthfully that works to a point. You may not starve on that approach but you certainly aren’t going to be feasting either and if you’ve dreams of making a big and positive impact in the world, you are going to have to overcome your fears at some point. Fears of being seen, of being judged, of being misunderstood.
I’ve heard a lot of the wisdom that’s out there about sales and marketing – that it’s your obligation if you’ve something important to share with the world – and I agree with that and still I think that if you’ve been immersed in the spiritual world for any length of time, that’s probably not going to be enough to cut through some of the spiritual baggage we all take on. So my advice today is specifically for people who want a deeper, soulful understanding of what marketing and selling is really all about.
