Criticism – public and private – is one of the things the human ego avoids the most. We hate being criticised because it pokes right at the heart of our unworthiness issues.
Criticism confirms our worst fears; that we’re not enough (not good enough, pretty, smart, fun, or successful enough), not worth loving or kindness or belonging.
Fear of being criticised:
- affects our willingness to show up in the world
- creates a success block (we’ve all seen the pile ons that can happen when a person in the public eye makes a misstep)
- turns us into perfectionists (who never actually put anything into the world because the work is never quite good enough)
- stops us from promoting our businesses, sharing our opinions, challenging the status quo.
In this video I speak about all of this, what to do about it, the link to patriarchal conditioning, and what you can expect when you study with us at the School of Visibility (we’ve a curriculum that’s specifically designed to support you in overcoming these fears and blocks!).
