I always do lots of inner work before I teach a program or run an event. It’s something I’ve found I absolutely have to do to hold the space cleanly and be really effective as a teacher.
If I was ever teaching a program and my inner blocks were coming to the surface at the same time as my students’ inner blocks were coming up, that would be a problem.
What the means though is that I have to clear in advance. It means that my world conspires to give me lots of opportunities to clear before I run an event or a program. It also means I can have it really rough in the lead up to those things.
We recently had a few hundred women join us for The Visibility Challenge. That’s a decent amount of energy to hold in your field when you’re deliberately unearthing resistances and blocks. While I don’t personally take on anyone else’s fears or difficulties, I’m definitely aware of the challenges – mental, emotional and/or energetic – people are facing.
What I’m doing to hold the space cleanly is making sure my field is big enough to provide an expansive opening. That means when people are ready to release their blocks, they fall into the energetic space I’ve created and they’re able to take really effective action in their businesses and lives.
It’s an interesting, interactive process which keeps revealing my own boundaries to me and continually invites me to release, release, release.
Sometimes I enjoy it. Sometimes I hate it.
Sometimes I’m in the glorious flow of it and sometimes I’m really angry or frustrated by my own blocks.
Because visibility is such a big issue for women, this last month or two has been quite the ride. I’ve seen beautiful transformation and blossoming. I’ve seen tentative steps and growing confidence. I’ve seen resistance and persistence.
I applaud it all and I’ve been right there with you.
It was in reflecting on this process that I came up with the idea of including visibility boosters in The Age of Visibility. Visibility boosters are small actions you can take each week that will accumulate over time.
I love the idea of visibility boosters because I’m always looking for ways to make life and business easier. For you and for me. I’m always looking for the gentle path, the effortless path, the path of flow.
I do that because I’m tired of life being a hard slog. I’m not interested in being a part of that story any more. I want to be a part of the story that says, ‘Life unfolds beautifully and effortlessly. Life is glorious and abundant. Life is good.’
Small steps are part of that path for me.
Big, bold, audacious steps are great but so often they involve heartache and a lot of push.
Instead, I’m thinking of a path we can skip along together. Having fun along the way, savouring each moment and really benefiting from the cumulative effect of all that joyous skipping.
Choosing small steps isn’t an invitation to hide out. You still have to act. It does however require some humility. My ego wants to take huge steps everyday. It wants to be seen TODAY, RIGHT NOW!
My soul on the other hand is always seen. She doesn’t have the same need as my ego. Certainly she wants to expand and she wants to relish in the expansion. And anything that keeps her small is doing a disservice to her greatness. But she’s not needy. She’s content. She’s happy to take small, consistent steps.
Every single time I set a target from the place of ego, I suffer. I have to almost physically push myself out of my comfort zone in order to make something shift.
Every time the soul reveals an intention to me, She also provides the path for me to skip along towards its realisation.
So that’s what we’ll be doing in The Age of Visibility. Skipping along in delight as the soul reveals the next visibility booster to us and then the next and then the next.
And because building community lies at the heart of The Age of Visibility, we’ll be constantly asking to be shown boosters that empower both you and your community. (That’s something you can start asking yourself right now of course and I’d love to hear the answers that show up for you. Let me know in the Change the Game Tribe.)
It doesn’t serve you to have a disempowered community. It serves you, it serves them and it serves the world, for your community to be filled with the most powerful, purposeful people on the planet.
To create that, you must first step into that role yourself.
Let’s do that together. Supporting one another. Small step by small step.
