Four things happened in the last few days which really refined things at the School of Visibility. I’ll tell you about that in a moment but the upshot is this; I’m simplifying the business.
Here’s what the School of Visibility will look like going forward:
The School of Visibility will continue to be a space for women to speak up and be seen and heard in the world.
To support you in that, we’ll be zooming right in on the thing that sits firmly in my genius zone; visibility block clearing, healing of old wounds, bringing women back to the truth of themselves, and supporting you to a new leadership paradigm that I call feminine leadership.
Specifically, we’ll offer that personal development work through a feminist lens by bringing to the fore and clearing out all the ways we’re not showing up in the world as a consequence of gendered fears, inherited trauma, and having internalised a patriarchal mindset.
As we do, you’ll uncover the impact that’s had on your ability to speak up, to be seen and heard, and to step forward as a leader in your industry and your life.
We’ll have one core program – A Visible Woman.
A Visible Woman is all about becoming visible on your own terms as you learn to embody feminine leadership.
The program will run twice a year starting in May and October with registration opening at the beginning of each semester so you can take advantage of early bird pricing should you wish.
Our business building and visibility block clearing program – The Age of Visibility – is coming off the market.
This was the hardest decision for me but as they say in journalism, ‘Sometimes you have to kill your darlings’. For us to grow at the School of Visibility, The Age of Visibility is the darling I’ve decided to let go of, as well as the Business Acceleration stream we were planning to offer this semester.
Both of these offerings are really business coaching programs and as I’ve decided to stay focused on block clearing and personal development, they no longer sit in our bailiwick. So instead of pursuing a ‘do it all’ approach, I’ll be entering into more partnerships in the future so as to create a win win situation for everyone.
First up we’ll be partnering with Marie Forleo to promote her incredible business training – B-School. As a part of that we’ll have a great visibility related affiliate offer which I’ll tell you about in the coming weeks.
We’ll offer a limited number of class packs at the beginning of each semester.
Focused on uncovering all the ways the stories and beliefs we carry around have been limiting you from really being visible in the world, our visibility classes are – in my humble opinion – invaluable work when it comes to supporting you to speak up and be seen and heard in the world.
So each semester in January and July we’ll open up a couple of class streams for you to get involved in. Each stream will include home-study visibility block clearing classes and semester long membership to the Visibility Group – our online space for School of Visibility students – where you can access 4 x live Q&A calls per semester with me to personalise the content and clarify any issues arising.
Our semester 1 offerings are now available for enrolment (with a slight change in the offerings to better reflect our focus on feminine leadership and visibility block clearing) and you can check them out here.
The website will be resource rich.
We’ll continue to fill the School of Visibility website with loads of great resources – including books, videos, and articles – for speaking up and being seen and heard in the world.
So that’s it; visibility block clearing and feminist leadership and personal development, delivered through one core program, a couple class streams each semester, and year round richness on the website.
I trust that this refinement will ensure we can provide you with amazing support going forward. We’ve so much work to do in releasing old systems of thought that maintain the patriarchal mindset. I really believe that the most important frontier for feminism in the 21st century is within us. Once we can free ourselves of the inner patriarch (and white supremacist and ableist and homophobe and other systems of oppression) we can all be free.
A world filled with free, visible women leading the world into a new era of human evolution. That’s what I want to create.
So, what happened?
- I was working with my A Visible Woman mastermind students on seeing ourselves and our motivations for hiding out more clearly. As I did, I saw some of my own old patterns. Patterns of taking on too much, of being fearful of missing out, of trying to keep everyone happy by constantly offering something new and shiny.
After the clearing I stepped into a deeper understanding of this lesson; I don’t have to be all things to all people. I’ve learned this lesson more than once and this time I saw all the subtle ways I’ve been trying to play that game even while I’ve been telling myself I’m great at setting boundaries!
I was reminded that rather than be all things to all people, I’m at my best when I stay in my lane and work purely in my zone of genius. Not my ‘great zone’, my ‘genius zone’. (Sometimes, if you’re not paying close attention, it can be hard to tell the difference.)
My zone of genius lies at the intersection of feminism (supporting people to see how the patriarchy works in the world and impacts on how we as women show up in it) and personal development (healing, block clearing, connecting people to the heart of themselves). And it’s through this work that I’m best positioned to support women to step into a new leadership paradigm.
As long as I stay in that space, I’m doing what I was born to do on this planet. - I was teaching a workshop on how to show up on your own terms as a business woman in 2019 and as part of that, I spoke about having a consistent brand story – where everything you’re sharing on socials, in your emails, on your blog is consistent with your message, your website, your offerings etc. As I was teaching, I realised I could be doing that better. That some of my offerings weren’t in fact, in perfect alignment with my message.
- I received an email seeking advice on the best way forward vis-a-vis programs, coaches etc when it comes to setting up your own business. I didn’t hesitate to recommend Marie Forleo’s B-School even though I have my own business building program. When I sat and reflected on this, I knew it wasn’t because I didn’t have the confidence to back myself. It’s because Marie’s B-School is a perfect example of someone working in their genius zone and if I want to really play big in this world, I have to do the same.
I realised that it’s time for me to work in my genius zone all the time and really own that. To stop being distracted by all the things I could do well or that might be useful to offer through the School of Visibility and to do you the service of just offering the very best of what’s possible in this space.
That I needed to set better boundaries around what is offered here. - I realised that in attempting to simplify things recently in terms of what we’ll offer at the School of Visibility going forward, I’d actually made them more complicated. I gave myself more work. Instead of narrowing in, I tried to hold onto all the pieces and merely organise them better.
That was a mistake.
I understand why I’ve done this. It takes courage to get to simplicity. It takes a willingness to let go of dear and precious things. Things that are still working or still add value to the world. But sometimes that’s the path you have to take in order to locate where you can add the most value.
