Inside Women Speaking Up, we’re talking about origin stories this week.
An origin story is the foundational story you might find yourself sharing many times about how and why you started your business.
Pretty straightforward really.
But what happens when traumatic experiences were pivotal to the creation of your business?
How do you navigate that foundational story without re-traumatising yourself or potentially triggering others?
This is the topic of today’s video which you can watch below or tune into right here.
Some of the questions to ponder as you’re working through this issue include:
- Which parts of my story am I sharing and for what purpose?
- Whom does my story telling serve?
- In which spaces am I choosing to share my story?
Without clarity around these issues, you can end up with enormous and seemingly insurmountable visibility blocks in business, because the journey of healing from trauma becomes so enmeshed in the process of business building.
If you’re building a personal brand, this is an ever more critical issue to reflect upon in order to set clean boundaries around what you will and won’t share about yourself and with your community.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. It’s a topic that requires sensitive reflection and nuanced consideration and if there are elements of the issue you’d like to see discussed in the future, please let me know.
Again, here’s where you’ll find the video and if there are others you know that need to hear the message or would like to participate in this discussion, please share the video with them.
