When you’re working through all the advice out there about how to show up online, to market your business, and develop a brand that’s ‘authentic’ to you, it can be enormously challenging.
If you’ve ever been to a bridal shop, it can feel a lot like that; people throwing all sorts of ideas at you and convincing you that ‘that’s the one!’. Meanwhile you’re standing there, with barely a moment to yourself, trying to get your thoughts in order and work out what it is you actually want.
Fortunately when it comes to visibility, we have a tool to help us; the enneagram.
Think of it like a great best friend who sweeps you up from all that bridal chaos, takes you to the nearest cafe and reminds you of who you really are and what you really care about.
The enneagram is an ancient personality typing system which directs you to your deepest motivations for behaving the way you do in the world. It helps you to see the different ways people show up in the world and to identify which way is going to work best for you. It helps you to understand not just how you hide out, but why.
When you have this information to hand, you’ll then find yourself at choice. You’ll be able to disregard most of the marketing and branding advice that’s out there and hone in on those one or two approaches that you know will actually work for you.
Part of the reason people struggle with consistency in their marketing is because they’re adopting an approach that’s never going to work for them.
From a bridal wear perspective, they’re trying to fit into that big puffy sleeved ball gown when they’re more of an understated, quietly elegant style of woman.
Understanding the enneagram will be the equivalent of having someone come along and eliminate 99% of the bridal shops you might visit so you can just visit the 1% that are filled with your perfect dress.
There are three parts to our enneagram series for you to explore. Click on each box below to learn more.
