To develop and refine your visibility strategy, you’ll need to be able to answer these three questions:
- Are people aware of your business, brand or work?
- Do they perceive value in what you have to offer?
- Do they feel connected to your business, brand or work?
Today we’re focusing on connection.
Connection is a tenuous thing that can be easily broken so it’s something that’s important to build consciously and over time. As a business owner, it’s useful to spend some time thinking of the variety of ways you can build – and break – trust. (Trust being critical to the creation of genuine and lasting connection.)
When you’re building your business online, it’s particularly important that you take into account the variety of ways people are consciously and unconsciously assessing whether you’re a trustworthy, safe and reliable presence in their lives.
In the journaling prompts below you’ll start by ensuring that the way you communicate is clear and easy to understand.
BUILDING CONNECTION
- How coherent is your messaging? Is it easy for people to follow or do they have to work to understand who you are and what you offer?
- How consistent is your overall brand? Does it create any points of dissonance or confusion for people?
- How well does your brand reflect your core values?
- How consistent are you in showing up and meeting the needs of your community?
- Which forms of connection will you be most focused on? You might choose to focus on ensuring people understand and are connected to your brand, to each other (thereby building a strong and sustainable community), or with themselves (building strong and resilient people who are also connected to you.
